some more happy people

Billie is a rare find as she is not only a wealth of knowledge but she is passionate and genuinely cares about you and your journey inside and outside of the gym. She takes a direct and honest approach but balances that with support and understanding.

Prior to meeting Billie I’d spent a lifetime dieting, my training had stagnated and I needed change. Billie’s knowledge of the body, nutrition and powerlifting is exceptional. Within one month I was hitting personal bests, managing my weight and enjoying the gym again. Six months on and I have literally not felt better, I am so strong; physically and mentally, I’m happy with my weight and getting ready for my first powerlifting competition!

Training with Billie is like no other experience I’ve had with any other trainer or gym. She genuinely cares. And not just about your physical well being but about your life and goals outside of the gym too. Health and exercise permeate so many other areas of our lives, so it is a blessing to have Billie as a resource for all of it. She always makes me feel like she has time for me.

With Billie, I have learned so much about my relationship with nutrition, exercise and my body.
I learned that I don’t have to give 100% to my training every single day and that rest days are important to get the most out of my harder sessions. I learned that carbs are my friend. I learned that I can feel better by eating more because it prevents bingeing and restricting. I learned that having performance based goals are so much more rewarding than exercising to burn a set number of calories.
Periodising my training and nutrition gives me a sense of purpose behind why I train and I feel good knowing that I’ve fuelled myself correctly. It is great to have someone as knowledgeable and supportive as she is in my corner.

Billie is really supportive and kind. She helps keep me on track and consistent in my training. She somehow makes me want to keep coming back (?!) and encourages me to keep trying. She never judges me when I miss training.
I’m shook that I’ve managed to keep coming back for over a year. I definitely would not have made this much improvement without Billie’s support. Plus I deadlift >100 now.

The Strength Fortress looks intimidating at first. I thought I’d be the weak newbie and feel out of place. Billie made me feel comfortable enough to at least give it a crack. She taught me correct lifting technique and how to use the equipment. After a week or so I wasn’t intimidated at all.
Four months in, all of my existing back and hip pain is gone and I’m so much stronger. But it’s the impact on my mental health that has been most profound. Starting my day lifting makes me happy and sets me up so well. I feel more motivated and refreshed after training which helps me handle parenting, work and study so much better.
